So I have mastitis now for the 2nd time in 4 weeks, and it really sucks!! My doctor is trying some different antibiotics, though they told me I might just be prone to getting it the rest of the time I breast feed. Or If it doesnt go away i might have to have the mass removed which =no breast feeding at all. I really love to BF and dont want to stop.
So I was wondering if any of you have ever had Mastitis? and if so, do you know any better methods of curing it? what helped you???
Maybe I am just doing it all wrong...help!!!
p.s. I will post some pics soon

the ps worries me.....are you going to post pictures of the breast? j/k so sorry to hear about this again....not cool!
I didn't have mastitis, but I did have a plugged duct which leads to mastitis. I feel for you because even that hurt way bad. All that they told me to do was make sure that Sydney drained me on each side every time I fed her. I also used hot and cold packs before during and after nursing. They also had me try and push the plugged duct out so it could drain which was painful. Sorry to give you all the details but i hope some of it might help. Have you called the hospital and asked for the nursing people. They might be able to help as well. I talked to them a few times. Good luck!
That's funny I thought the same thing Charee did, just kidding I know what you mean. I am so sorry that's crappy. I am TOTALLY in the same boat. Zack is almost six months and I had it four times, I have CONSTANT cracked nipples and a major breast yeast infection the whole time. I am finally going to be done. I have just endured it. Each time I got mastitis it's gone away fairly quickly with the antibiotics but the yeast probably won't go away until I am totally done, it itches like crazy. I got mastitis once with Blake and didn't have any other problems. I don't know why it's been so bad with Zack. Sorry for the novel and details. I don't really have any answers but don't pump out what is left over because then your body will continue to produce all that you get out. It takes a while to regulated so you only produce what he eats. I have found if I stop a feeding it takes like a week to not hurt or be engorged. Sorry way too much info. If you want to call me I would love to talk to you. I am all for Breast feeding I think it's so good for the babies and I think that's why I have continued doing it. Anyway I am going to bed now. Your not alone.
oh, I'm soooo sorry, I didn't even know you were going through that!! What a great neighbor I am!! Anyway, I've never had mastitis but I did have plugged milk ducts with Abbie and that was painful enough!! I used hot compresses and hot showers to relieve some of the pain. I also used tylenol, etc for pain. With milk ducts, it helps to keep nursing and pumping so I don't know if it is the same for mastitis. I'm so sorry, I hope you get feeling better soon!
